What People have said about Diabetefix
"No one's doing this, and it needs to be done. I love the idea of a clear, graphical education with modules and a pathway in which the user is teased on from one subject to another. I also like the idea of tailoring and refining this service in the way described for different audiences by age, ethnic group etc"

About The Chronic Foundation

The Chronic Foundation (TCF) develops initiatives and supports businesses that improve care and treatment for people with chronic diseases. By building bridges from business to Government, NGO to patient, TCF is;

  1. Improving the ability of patients to self-care,
  2. Expanding the availability of beneficial products and services,
  3. Enhancing the revenue potential of relevant chronic disease commercial solutions.

This Not-for-Profit company focuses its efforts in three broad areas: Market Development, Communications (Marketing and Behavioural Change), and Brokering / Networking. TCF currently focuses on diabetes, the area where the potential of patient self-management is greatest, with the intention to roll-out to other areas of chronic disease.

The Mandate

The Chronic Foundation is a Social Enterprise, existing as a Not-for-Profit organisation. This guarantees re-investment of all Profit in new solutions for patients rather than in distribution to shareholders.

The mandate directs effort and profit to identify new patient categories, and to deliver solutions that empower and improve patient lives, whether through in-house development, via partnership or in support of existing or emerging quality third-party solutions. (Diabetefix has materially contributed to a number these).

But 'Not-for-Profit' does not mean 'Not-Commercial'. The Chronic Foundation has a number of commercial models for different projects including sales, consultancy sponsorship, grants and funding via traditional investors, corporate social responsibility, NGO (where appropriate) and government.
